Generative knowledge is the summary term that Perkins states encompasses the three general goals of any educational system. While the theory of multiple intelligences is a powerful way to think about learning, it’s also important to understand the research that supports it. Akers does a great job of combining a plethora of ideas and putting them into a well formulated theory. More specifically, Skinner would say that the independent verbal influencing learning is the consequence of the behavior. Learners are still expected to master basic skills needed to function in our society, but they are also given the opportunity to learn specific skills that apply to what they wish to discover and not what is perceived to be beneficial for everyone.
