Christianity and Judaism share the Hebrew Scriptures (the Old Testament) as the authoritative Word of God, although Christianity includes the New Testament as well. Flaunting wealth has the following deleterious effects: (1) It makes one conspicuous and arouses the envy of others, including enemies of the Jewish people, (2) ostentation can cause people who are not very wealthy to become ashamed of their lack of means, and (3) it can make one arrogant. According to the Jewish perspective, we find that a Jew can be defined through five key questions: First, some see Judaism primarily as a religion. This is called the "Thirteen Principles of Jewish Faith." Leviticus 24:10 says that the son in a marriage between a Hebrew woman and an Egyptian man is "of the community of Israel." I am reminded of the story of the two Jews reading their newspapers over a cup of coffee in a late-nineteenth-century Viennese cafe.

They discarded many traditional observances as no longer meaningful, modified others, and introduced new ones, such as confirmation. The labour was resumed and completed in 516, but the prophecies remained unfulfilled. However, there are some scholars who have done a proper (purely scientific) job in evaluating the issue. The WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) logo has been an amazingly popular phenomenon resulting in the WWJD letters being placed on clothing, bumper stickers, and numerous other items. I am pro-Torah, valuing the great wisdom that is found in the Torah. The worldliness of the later Maccabees alienated most of their subjects, and effective leadership passed more and more to pious and learned laymen, especially after the Romans established control in 63 BC.
